1905 – 1959
Sindaco di Torino dal 1946 al 1948, egli fu esponente di rilievo del PCI, per il quale fu anche sottosegretario agli Esteri con Parri e De Gasperi. Nel 1948 venne eletto senatore. Egli è stato uno delle figure più eminenti dell’anti-fascismo, per cui venne condannato ad oltre dodici anni di carcere.
Mayor of Turin from 1946 to 1948, he was member of the PCI, for which he was also Secretary for Foreign Affairs with Parri and De Gasperi. In 1948 he was elected senator. He was one of the most eminent figures of the anti-fascism, for which he was sentenced to more than twelve years in prison.
