1851 – 1914
Discendente da una famiglia di imprenditori nel settore ristorazione, acquista il Grand Hotel Ligure e l’American Bar e da queste attività nasce l’esigenza di studiare una macchina per produrre “caffè istantaneo” per la propria clientela. Ideò quindi e mise in produzione la macchina per il caffè espresso che venne presentata in occasione dell’Esposizione Generale di Torino del 1884. Da Torino si diffuse nel mondo la sua idea che rivoluzionò il modo di gustare il caffè.
Descending from a family of business owners in the catering sector, he buys the Grand Hotel Ligure and the American Bar in Turin. From these activities, he studied a machine to produce “instant coffee” for his customers. So he conceived and put into production the espresso coffee machine that was presented on the occasion of the General Exhibition of Turin in 1884. His idea revolutionized the way of enjoying coffee in the world.
