1852 – 1893
Gian Battista Cipani fu un grande educatore. Egli si avviò ad una intensissima opera educativa dopo aver letto i “Doveri degli uomini” di Silvio Pellico che sarà l’ispiratore di tutta la sua vita. Scrittore brillante, pubblicava testi scolastici la cui grande diffusione continuò per anni dopo la sua morte. Nel 1894, anno successivo alla sua morte, Torino, per iniziativa dei piccoli e giovani abbonati dei “suoi” periodici, gli dedicava nel Camposanto centrale un artistico monumento, opera di Cesare Reduzzi.
Gian Battista Cipani was a great educator. He started an intense educational work after reading the “Man’s Duties” by Silvio Pellico, who will be the inspiration of his whole life. He was a brilliant writer, publishing textbooks whose great dissemination continued for years after his death. In 1894, the year after his death, the city of Turin, on the initiative of the small and young subscribers of his “periodicals”, dedicated to him in the central Cemetery an artistic monument of Cesare Reduzzi.
